Helna Merin Joseph is an Indian contemporary visual artist and art educator, formerly an Assistant Professor, from Kerala and currently based in the England. Trained in sculpture, her practice spans multiple mediums, engaging with questions of gendered identity, memory, migration, and socio-cultural paradoxes shaped by lived experience and shifting geographies.
She holds a BFA from Kerala University (First Rank) and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Hyderabad (First Rank with Gold Medal). Her work has been widely exhibited, including presentations at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (Students Biennale) and Kerala Lalithakala Akademi State Exhibitions, where she has received several awards.
Since relocating to the UK, her practice has expanded to incorporate new media and site-responsive approaches, exploring notions of place, belonging, and cultural hybridity within contemporary contexts.
